The Town of Renfrew, nestled along the scenic Bonnechere River, is rich in history and natural beauty.
Seeking to modernize the community’s visual identity and messaging while preserving its heritage and character, the Town engaged Syntax to develop a new brand and communications strategy that better reflected its economic, cultural, and social strengths.
After a comprehensive brand audit that engaged town staff, council, and community members to understand their perception of Renfrew and what they envisioned for its future, the strategy’s focus shifted from a full rebrand to a brand refresh that would evolve Renfrew’s existing identity while maintaining its recognizable roots.
Once the visual direction for a new logo had been determined, Syntax developed a comprehensive, fully designed brand and communications plan outlining the town’s core values, brand personality, and key messages. We refined graphic styles, colour palettes, and typography, created a new logo and slogan, and produced sample applications ranging from signage and banners to business cards and promotional materials. To unveil the refreshed identity, Syntax also produced a promotional video that brought the new look to life and celebrated Renfrew’s sense of community and pride.
The result is a revitalized brand that honours Renfrew’s history while presenting a fresh, focused visual identity — one that highlights the town’s beauty, opportunity, and spirit within the broader landscape of Canadian municipalities.
